how to play (the quick version)
The goal is to line up 4 or more discs of the same color horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
- 3 colored discs are randomly placed on the board
- Click a piece that you would like to move
- Click a spot with a white dot to move it there.
- If you don't score a row, 3 more pieces are randomly created
- If you score a row, the row disappears, you get points (good), and you get another free move!
piece movement
When you select a piece to move, instantly the game will search for nearby open spaces and mark them with a white dot. These are the spaces you are allowed to move to.
Imagine that the piece can ONLY move horizontally and vertically, and NOT over other pieces. This means that pieces surrounded by other pieces are severely limited. Plan accordingly.
scoring
Try to line up 4 (or more) pieces horizontally, vertically or diagonally of the same color. No pieces will be randomly generated for that next turn, and you will get a minimum of 20 points.
The higher the level, the more points you will get per row! Also scoring a bunch of rows in series will net you more multipliers.
Again, plan accordingly!
levels
Levels are at the heart of skeemo's difficulty and scoring. The higher the level, the more points you will get for rows, but also the more pieces will be generated per move!
It will take 40 rows to progress to level 2, 60 rows to level 3, and 80 rows to level 4, the final and most difficult level.
power ups
Currently there is only 1 power up called 'anywhere'. To gain this power up you must either gain a level or score 2 rows in 1 move.
Once you have this power up, select a piece that might normally be unusable because it is trapped, press the 'anywhere' button and you can now move it to any available space, regardless of location!
undo
As the title suggests, this is an undo. You get 2 undo's per level you encounter. They are cumulative, so if you don't use any in level 1, you will have 4 in level 2.
Undo does exactly what you think, it fixes an accidental move that you didn't mean to make. You can only perform an undo if you did NOT score a row on your move.
saving
Whether you are an experienced player or brand new, skeemo can sometimes last a long time. To remedy this situation, I have set the game up to save after every move. So if you get distracted, or your browser crashes, or you receive a phone call, the game will always pick up from where you left off!
